SPRING CLEANING - 5 Feng Shui Tips to Enhance the Qi of Your Home

Updated: Apr 7, 2021

Here are a few easy tips that you can do to promote positive Qi in to your home.

1. CLEAN YOUR FRONT DOOR

Your front door is considered your Mouth of Qi in Feng Shui. This is where the energy flows into your home, even if you use another door more often. Keep your front door and porch clear of dirt, cobwebs and clutter throughout the year. This invites positive Qi to your home.

2. DECLUTTER

Clutter is the BIGGEST Qi blocker. Keeping your spaces clutter free and clean allows energy to flow easier. You can enhance positive Qi by removing items that no longer serve you and replacing them with items that do. Donating items feels good and allows space for items that better support you.

3. OPEN UP THE WINDOWS

Letting the light and air in a space instantly enhances the Qi. Dirt and cobwebs promote stagnant Qi, so make sure you keep your windows clean throughout the year.

4. ADD PLANTS AND FLOWERS

Plants purify the air and also enhance the Qi by bringing the Wood Element into your home. Make sure you get plants that fit the space and will thrive in the place you put it. Avoid plants that have spikey or pointed leaves. Go for rounded, softer edged leaves instead. Orchids, money trees, bamboo, jade, rubber trees (to name a few!) are good choices. Different plants, flowers and the colors of them represent different things, so choosing ones that support you, help enhance that Qi. The location of where they are placed also stimulates Qi. The pot the plant is in or vase, is also a great way to add elements into a space through color, shape, and what it is made of (metal, clay, glass, etc.).

5. KEEP YOUR HOME SMELLING GOOD

No one likes a stinky place!! Scents are a great way to stimulate Qi so make sure your rooms smell good. You can light a candle, use plug ins, essential oils, incense, etc. Different scents promote different energies. Lemon, orange, and vanilla are great for the kitchen, lavender and jasmine for the bedroom, lemongrass and mint for your office… just to name a few!
